Electrified Old-Style Blues, Folk & Gospel
2022 & 2023 International Blues Challenge Semi-Finalist
With a guitar howling like it was recorded in a runaway cement mixer while keeping up with the frantic beat of an old suitcase drum and a rusty tambourine, Zeno Jones takes the old delta blues and lights them on fire with Kentucky moonshine. Based out of Louisville, Jones belts out raw vocals with a level of energy which can only be explained as a genuine attempt to give himself religion. Jones’ fervor will have you either stomping your foot through the floor or calling the police.
Audiences are struck by the ferocity, originality and fresh take on the prewar blues, roots and gospel material Zeno takes inspiration and pays homage to. He is a two-time Semifinalist of the International Blues Challenge, a weeklong event featuring 200 regionally qualified blues acts from around the world. Since 2022 he has played for audiences around Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee from venues as intimate as a private house party to crowds at the Brown County Playhouse (IN), or from the standing room only bars of Beale Street (TN) to the overflowing street crowds the Garvin Gate Blues Festival (KY).
“…honestly one of the best vibes we have ever had in the brewery. Not only was he playing great music, but he had great interactions with the crowd. We cannot wait for him to come out again, and customers have already been asking when he will return!”
J. Fraley – Manager, Old Louisville Brewery
“takes the approach of the Black Keys and The Sideshow Tragedy to the next level, making the distorted guitar howl like it was recorded in a runaway cement mixer and the drum fills bouncing off the walls, with all the needles so deep in the red that a power outage is barely avoided.”
Here Comes The Flood
“The riffs are heavy, the lyrics are captivating, the vocals are raw as they should be, the structures are surprising (their greatest distinctive assets”
